About Us

Our History

Steve and Felicia Baugh, co-owners of Set in Stone Hardscapes, moved around the country for years before finally settling in Mount Pleasant, SC and starting their business. Steve’s Air Force career gave them the typical nomadic lifestyle of a military family. Eventually, Steve left the service and they moved to Charleston in search of better opportunities and a place to raise their growing family.

The burning desire to start their own business was one that Steve and Felicia couldn’t ignore. Steve returned to college to study business, and he worked in landscaping while finishing school. Felicia worked as office manager for a home improvement company, which provided invaluable insights into daily business operations.

The birth of their business happened rather spontaneously, while Steve was working in landscaping. One patio project led to another, and the couple realized it was time. Felicia left her job to help with design and office duties. Steve took every certification class he could find, hired some extra hands, and the enterprise that would become Set in Stone Hardscapes gradually took shape.

Where We Are Today

“We are family-driven and veteran-owned,” Felicia says with pride. “When you hire us, you hire our family. You’re working with people who care about you and your project. For us, it isn’t about going 100 mph to sell as much as we can, it’s more about building trust and relationships. We have clients on their 3rd or 4th project with us now. That’s what I think sets us apart from other companies.”

Their team specializes in custom outdoor living spaces encompassing patios, walkways, fireplaces, fire pits, driveways, water features, outdoor kitchens, pool deck remodeling, retaining walls, and more. Set in Stone is a Certified Pro Installer of Techo Bloc and Lowcountry Paver and a Certified Artificial Turf installer for Lowcountry Turf.

Would you like us to build a 3D design for your Landscape/ Hardscape project? We will work with you one-on-one to determine the budget, layout, materials, and landscaping to complement your project and create a full-color 3D design. A Deposit of $2000* is required to get started, and $1000 is credited to the cost of your project, should you choose us for your installation. Most of our projects average around $5,000-$10,000. Our minimum project starting at $2500 and some of our larger projects in the $20,000-$40,000 range. Have you considered a budget for your hardscape? YES / NO (If “YES” what do you feel comfortable investing in this project?)

Do you have a specific deadline you are trying to complete this project by? YES / NO We take pride in providing great service and quality work, and as a result, we are in high demand. Most project lead times average 3 to 4 months from closing to installation. (**We cannot foresee any weather or manufacturing delays and therefore cannot guarantee a project will be done by a specific date, however, we will try to work with special situations whenever possible.)
